Żuławy Diary

“Żuławy Diary” was created as a result of my travels in Żuławy.  It is a separate theme in my work. I am most attracted to the mysteriousness of the land of Żuławy, the beauty of its landscape and the unusual history with characteristic attributes: arcaded houses, clocks, tulips, windmills. These themes were often present in my paintings before I discovered Żuławy making me extremely happy to have such inspiration at my fingertips.

Musical Industry

Musical Industry- is a series of paintings inspired by the poetic translation of the names of musical tones:

Do – Dominus (Lord),

Re – rerum (matter),

Mi – miraculum (miracle),

Fa – familias рlanetarium (solar system),

Sol – solis (sun),

La – lactea via (milky way),

Si – siderae (heavens).

Each note corresponds to an ancient musical instrument (tambourine, portative, zither, lute, fiddle, harp) and a spectral color, starting from red and ending with purple. This sound and visual concert is set in the decorations of Gdansk.

Mysterious Island

Mysterious Island

Mysterious Island started in 2011, when the author was selected to participate in the Instituto Sacatar artist residency on Itaparica island, Brazil. There she met new friends from all over the world and found a new source of inspiration, absorbing Afro-Brazilian art and culture of the Bahia region.

In 2022, Rita was invited again by Instituto Sacatar. This time the author researched the history of the Dutch-Brasilian colonization days connection, and decided to transfer Ambrosius Bosschaert’s bouquets to the scenery of Itaparica, combining beauty of Itaparica’s sunsets and sunrises with the beauty of the bouquets of the golden age of Dutch painting. She focused on what unites all nations and cultures: admiration of beauty, cultural memory and the fragility of life.

Personal Planetarium

The idea of the Personal Planetarium series was born out of admiration for the works of the Old Masters, as a tribute to their universe.

With Fire and Clay

“With Fire and Clay”-a project carried out within the framework of the Creative Scholarship of the Minister of Culture, National Heritage and Sports, dedicated to the brick Gothic of Pomerania. It tells the story of the emergence of the region’s culture ”with fire and clay.” The aim of the project was to “portray” the well-known and the more modest buildings of the region, showing their most important features, or people and events associated with them.

Gdansk’s Inclusions

Gdansk’s Inclusions – is a series of paintings about Gdansk, started as part of the Cultural Scholarship of the City of Gdansk in 2018.  Inspired by the monuments of Gdansk, their history and beauty. The goal was to portray local landscapes and objects, as inclusions (i.e. plants and insects solidified in amber). The works are made in mixed technique, combining tempera painting on board, appliqué, and collage.
